Why do you do what you do? I can't help myself.....I'm always creating.
What’s your background?
I went to live in London as a teenager. I graduated from Chelsea College of Art as a mature student in the 1990’s and 6 months ago my partner and I returned here to live.
What role does the artist have in society?
To cause a pause.
What art do you most identify with?the public art produced by Artangel.
What work do you most enjoying doing?
large scale paintings.
What’s your favourite art work?
my print 'Sofa Couple' by Trevor Price - I look at it every day.
Describe a real-life situation that inspired you:walking along the beach this morning.
What jobs have you done other than being an artist?I used to serve cups of tea in Morecambe railway station tea bar - before it became The Platform – happy days!
Name three artists you’d like to be compared to:I don’t know about being compared to but I’ve always felt connection to the works by Dutch artist Michael Raedecker. I first saw an exhibition of Anselm Kiefer’s paintings many years ago and he always deeply inspires me, recently I visited the Abstract Expressionist exhibition at the RA, the whole show was amazing and Clyfford Still’s work was breathtaking…..
