Art Auction at the Midland Hotel
The fundraising campaign to bring A Time and Tide Bell to Morecambe continues with an Art Auction to be held at the Midland Hotel on 11 October 2018 at 7.00pm.
Announcement – a Call to Artists
Donations of artwork are needed now! Morecambe Artist Colony (MAC for short) which is organising the installation of this stunning sculpture by the internationally renowned artist Marcus Vergette still needs more funds to cover the costs.
MAC will be very grateful for any artist who could donate any painting or other artwork. Morecambe Visitor Information Centre (VIC) is the collecting point for donations – the VIC opening hours are 9.30-6pm Monday to Saturday, closed Sundays. Donations of art can be left there from 1st October.
“Please turn out your cupboards to find a work to donate or be inspired to produce new work for the Time and Tide bell itself”
N.B. Please attach a completed Artist Donation Form with each artwork donated.
If you have any queries about donating, or about the auction itself, please contact us at morecambeartistcolony@gmail.com

Notes:
-
The Time and Tide Bell project seeks to raise public awareness of the threat of climate change. Five bells have been placed in coastal waters around the UK so far and each one chimes as the tide rises. Morecambe is in a race with Brixham, Devon to see which will become the home of the 6th bell. There will be 10-12 bells around the UK when the programme is complete. Details: www.timeandtidebell.co.uk

We are hoping to raise enough money to include an interpretation panel so visitors and residents can know more about the threat of climate change and its relevance to Morecambe Bay.
-
Morecambe Artist colony is seeking volunteers to help with fundraising activities or to attend workshops to develop the inscription for Morecambe’s bell. Details: https://morecambeartistcolony.org/time-tide-bell/

Morecambe Artist Colony is a not-for-profit collective of artists and creatives who have joined together to initiate, deliver and support art-led projects and exhibitions in Morecambe. We are passionate about using art for the regeneration of our town and are all independent practitioners or organisations who wish to work together to drive artistic development in Morecambe.

MAC is very grateful to Arts Council England, Morecambe BID, the Galbraith Trust and Venus & Cupid Arts Trust for their contributions to the funding and, for the advice received on the engineering and installation plans, to Volker Stevin, the contractors for the new Sea Wall around Morecambe.

Very big thanks are due to The Midland which is hosting the auction on a no-charge basis.
